Colas alongside young talents in Public Works
Supporting the talent who will build the territories of tomorrow
Building the infrastructures of tomorrow also means supporting the people who will make them a reality. Colas was a partner of the 2026 Vocational General Competition – Public Works, organized at the Lycée des Marcs d’Or in Dijon by the Ministry of National Education.
Each year, this competition showcases students in vocational tracks and highlights the know-how of Public Works professions through technical tests carried out in conditions close to those on the ground.
For the 2026 edition, eight finalists from all over France took on a demanding challenge: designing and delivering a worksite by mobilizing technical expertise, precision, safety, and team spirit.
A concrete immersion into the Public Works professions
Over four days of intensive trials, the candidates had to face real worksite conditions:
- sometimes unpredictable weather,
- technical setbacks,
- demanding days,
- and operational pressure.
But the week was above all marked by the commitment, motivation, and professionalism of the participants, who demonstrated their passion for the Public Works professions.
Beyond the competition, this event offers a genuine immersion into the realities on the ground and helps to highlight skills that are essential to the infrastructure and territorial development sector.
Colas committed to promoting the Public Works sector
As a partner of this edition, Colas wanted to support the candidates by providing professional equipment to the school and actively contributing to the promotion of careers in the sector.
The Colas Côte-d’Or branch was also present in the partners’ area alongside the École des Travaux Publics Bourgogne Franche-Comté, in order to engage with visitors and showcase the opportunities within the field.
Through this initiative, Colas reaffirms its commitment to:
- vocational training,
- the transmission of know-how,
- the attractiveness of Public Works professions,
- and supporting younger generations.
Introducing Public Works professions to younger generations
Since the start of the competition, nearly 190 middle school students from the region have had the opportunity to discover careers in Public Works, observe the finalists in action, and exchange with professionals present on site.
A concrete opportunity to raise young people’s awareness of the challenges of infrastructure, mobility, and the sustainable development of territories.
These meetings also help highlight professions that are essential to daily life:
- construction and maintenance of roads,
- urban development,
- mobility infrastructure,
- worksite safety,
- environmental transition of territories.
Congratulations to the candidates for their commitment
We congratulate all the finalists for their dedication, motivation, and the quality of the work they delivered throughout this week in Dijon.
These young talents embody the future of Public Works and will contribute tomorrow to building infrastructures that are increasingly sustainable, innovative, and adapted to the needs of the territories.
